World famous choreographer Maria Torres, noted for her work in Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's "El Cantante", performance in the movie "Dance with Me" featuring Chayanne and Vanessa Williams, consultation on the hit show "So You Think You Can Dance" and most recent choreographed direction in the new Off-Broadway Celia: The Life & Music of Celia Cruz, kicked off Nassau Community College's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Accompanied by her dance assistant Maritza Reveron, they demonstrated the basic, yet sometimes technical dance steps of salsa.
