I don't know but I think if there is any way to get a sympathetic ear from a US member of congress, as this person can raise a stink and possibly clear your name, this might be a very good option. I strongly hope Americans can send their representatives what Dan has encountered, and I'm sure at least one of them will be as disgusted as we all are.

Good to see you are not so small minded as to blame all Americans for what happened, as a lesser man might.
I think this is important not to judge the people of a country by the actions of a few. Remember over here what the Howard 'government' did to people such as Vivian Alvarez Solon & Cornelia Rau etc. Our own track record for inhumane treatment of people is not that brilliant.
