its a tannerin. see how he is using a wire to touch the metal strip on the instrument? that's how a tannerin works. a theremin uses an antenna and the pitch changes depending on the distance between your hand and the antenna.

they are practically the same instrument... just the tannerin was built by Paul Tanner (who also played it on the recording of good vibrations, wild honey, and i just wasnt made for these times)as a sort of modification of the theremin, which was built by L
éon Theremin. just a little info about the instrument. It's too bad the two instruments aren't used more often though.

you are right it is an electro theremin. the electro-theremin and the tannerin are the same thing. they just renamed it tannerin in 1990 after it's inventor paul tanner, but the electro-theremin is different from the theremin. same way a harp is different from an auto harp (ok well maybe not THAT drastic). you can check those facts if you would like. i could be wrong, but im pretty sure that's how it went.
