Pathetique (Adagio Cantabile)

Uploaded by: phrequency
Video Description:
Finally, my first classical piece completely memorized, Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata no. 8 movement 2.
Coming back to piano and learning this piece was completely inspired by the anime and live action Nodame Cantabile (heard in the first episode of both versions). Advice on technique and such would be much appreciated too. I tried putting dynamics at parts where the music climbs or falls and at th
e climax. Also, there are various points where the rhythm kind of hangs (most noticeably towards the end of the song). I put them in on purpose and aren't actual tempo markings from the score (there were few, mostly transitions to the main theme). I also realized, unfortunately, that I played this
song really slow compared to the other recordings I see on YouTube and actual CD recordings I have.

hmm.. you should sound the melody more distinctively, slight accent on them, in fact you played the bass notes too loud.. shouldnt the songbe pp or p? after the triplets at the 40+ sec, your left hand should go to pp.. add in your own interpretations and of course feelings, they are too choppy.. nonetheless, i like the stuffed toy on the grandpiano.. it's cute! =D

hey it may not be pro, but you don't have to put it so bluntly. =( at least this person gave it a try! I do have some advice though: try to "move" the middle voice more so it sounds more flowing, and do you take lessons with a teacher? you should.

Please, read the info.
Constructive comments, please. Learning people doesn't need stupids saying thigs like "you suck" and stuff like that. I would like to see vids of them. I'm sure they are not Freddy Kepmf. We are learning; nobody's born knowing. Good job, keep going, you're in a quite good way.

It's a great thing that you can play in a very steady tempo~ but i think it will sounds even better if you play it more freely (less steady).
Good Job ^^

how old are u? this is quite good in terms of getting the notes and memory, but you do lack emotion and legato. the piece is called adagio cantabile, cantabile meaning in a singing style. so if you try to pour more passion and softness into it, and aggression in the right places. im 15 and studying this right now, and if you can get a balance of getting the notes and legato, then thats what makes it a great performance. well done, your playing sounded softer towards the end :)

Thankyou for your performance of this wonderful piece which I enjoyed. No contrast of emotions is too great in it, so don't be afraid to make the quiet moments pp. Also I agree with one of the other posters who said making it more cantabile would be even better.
Don't worry about the speed - it's very hard to play too slow. :)

I think you did fantastic with this song and the slower, makes it even better! if you have it faster, it just wouldn't have the same wailing feelings of a pathetique. And it's not that slow otherwise it would've been marked Largo, so I congradulate you on being so open with the composition.

Great! Only criticism would be to make the inner voices a little quieter, which is tough, but you're on the right path!

Yeah like barcanard already said. You have to play the semiquaver much more quietly.
The triplets are ... ( 3 weeks ago by JRMeijin)
The triplets are used to be play with sustain and the semiquaver between the chords right after the triplets are used to be played staccato. But otherwise well done, im also studying this piece right now.

Not bad at all for a first memorized piece! Try to separate the voices more though.. it's difficult to hear the cantabile melody over the overbearing inner voices.
I loved Nodame Cantabile. Did you notice that in the LA Nodame's pieces are more traditional, whereas in the anime they are more personalized to her playing. When she plays this in episode 1 of the anime, it's considerably different.. give it a listen!

I think you did well for your first memorized classical piece! How old are you? I played this piece last year when i was 12. I think i still remember it. I'll try to put a video up. But my hands are too small so i can't reach a few notes.
A bit of advice...
-As i'm sure other people said, try to make the accompanying voices a bit softer... i couldn't help but hear the DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN all the way through.
-3:16-3:23 should be louder. I think that this should be the loudest point of the song.
I agree, the ... ( 2 days ago by Kpopbest)
I agree, the accompany, or the bass clef, should be softer, the melody should be heard the msot clearest, which is the usually the first note of te right hand, its hard to explain because my theory is a bit short, i'm going to restart my theory, but yes, what you said
