UMass Protests Andy Card and War

On May 25, 2007 Andrew Card faced hundreds of boos and catcalls as he was given an honorary degree during the graduate school commencement at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Before the commencement, about 200 protesters staged a rally and press conference outside the Mullins Center on the UMass campus. Hundreds more students and faculty who opposed the honorary degree would later protest inside the hall. Card, former Bush Administration Chief of Staff and chief sales
man for the invasion of Iraq as head of the White House Iraq Group, faced signs calling him a war criminal. People are now calling on UMass to rescind the honorary degree. The protests followed weeks of growing opposition. 400 protested on May 15 (see the rally and march on YouTube at TraprockPeace

Obviously you don't mind the thousands of lives lost after not only finding no wmd's but also after discovering that they didn't even have any good evidence of those. The al-quieda connection was completely falsified from the beginning. Saddam supported EVERY terrorist aiming at the USA? Well, apparently not Al-Quieda, not at all. When was the war "authorized" by congress? I thought it was one of the best known facts in politics that this war was the first we have ever started without an act of congress. Yes they authorized funds multiple times after the war was declared, but Bush just plain broke constitutional rules and began the war with no congress at all. Can anybody back this up for me please? I don't have time to deal with ALL the retards in the world.

Reply to djhenyo the moron: I failed to mention I also hold batchelors degrees in mathematics, economics(BA and BS) and a BA in Political Science with a certificate in International Relations, in addition I hold minors in Actuarial science, statistics, and philosophy! I also just completed my Masters of Finance and currently go to UVA enrolled in the J.D.-M.B.A. joint program, so yeah, I'm educated! Your lack of patriotism sickens me, but god will sort you out!

Simple, Congressional Joint Resolution 114 and UN Security Council resolutions, such as Resolution 1441 and Resolution 678. Also look up the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 passed by Bill Clinton. Not all wars or show of force must be first declared by congress.

Saddam did not bother to obey 17 resolutions that were passed, but what difference did that make. The UN is one of the most corrupt, useless political organizations on the Earth. They have little credence in eyes of many in this country and of many in Europe. If people like you had things their way, we would be bowing 5 times a day to Mecca as well as being broke. More Iraquis died in the first of U.S. occupation than died in the whole time Saddam ruled. Iraq wasn't just Al Queda free before the invasion, but it kept a much needed balance of secularism vs theocracy in the Middle East. Now the region is flooded with anti-American groups like never before. And, when we finally pull our forces out of Iraq the Shiite majority is going to slaughter the entire Tsunni population and stand side by side with Iran in terms of Islam extremism.
