try googling 'HRT427', and you will find the proto-type Le-Mans Monaro... it won every race in its class it entered in its short racing career.
The Omega Chassis ... ( 2 months ago by dclawfantum)
The Omega Chassis was not a Cadillac design, it was Opel, as in Opel Omega. It was imported to the United States as a Cadillac Catera, then later Cadillac created the CTS (Catera Touring Sedan) to replace the Catera. Holden took the Omega chassis and tweaked it, including widening it. HSV suffed a V8 in it, and even made a limited run of all-wheel drive Coupe4's. Vauxhall imported them to the U.K., and Saudi Arabia badged them as Chevrolets.
The VY/VZ ... ( 2 months ago by dclawfantum)
The VY/VZ production ended 6/14/2006, the last vehicle off the line was a Spice Red GTO. There is currently no repacement for the Monaro. The VE chassis is not available as a 2-door coupe. U.S.- Pontiac G8; Australia - Commodore VE, Calais, Ute, Sportwagon, Statesman, etc; U.K. - Vauxhall VXR8; Saudi Arbia - Chevrolet Lumina. GM owns Holden and Vauxhall.
To missionbrent: The engine is Canadian built. The Tremec T-56 is built in Mexico. The rear diff and axle assembly is made by Dana Australia.

The only dictation ... ( 2 months ago by dclawfantum)
The only dictation GM forced was that only HSV could use the LS2. The non-HSV VY and VZ vehicles were not allowed to be equipped with the LS2. The "Aussie built" engines are no different than the US, the alternator is different and was relocated and the fuel trim was re-mapped.

What you are ... ( 3 weeks ago by 79HZGTS)
What you are referring to is the GM RWD V-platform. Holden used this platform for Commodores VB to VZ (1978 - 2006). It was not HSV that "stuffed" a V8 in it. HSV did not exist unit 1987, but all models from as far back as VB (1978) were available with V8 engines.
I think he was ... ( 3 weeks ago by 79HZGTS)
I think he was referring to the Australian designed and built V8's that Holden used between 1968 and 1998. Holden did not use any American engines between 1974 and 1998. The 6.0 litre engines were available in VZ and VE (non-HSV) Commodores. Holden called them the L76, a modified LS2.
None of the ... ( 2 weeks ago by 79HZGTS)
None of the Australian models had variable valve timing or displacement on demand enabled on the L76 engine. The Pontiac G8 (exported VE Commodore) has the L76 engine with variable valve timing and displacement on demand enabled. What else have you American "experts" got wrong. Holden didn't do what GM told them to do back in 1946, what makes you think they do now?
