That is a fun song to hear even though the video is basic. I haven't heard a song like that since. It's great to finally see the song on video that's been playing in my head for years.

This was back in a time when musicians were actually talented. They didn't have to use samplings from other songs and they didn't have to use sexual content to sell their stuff. It sold because it sounded good to us and once we heard it, we wanted to keep hearing it. That is why it is still good and timeless today. I wouldn't give a penny for the junk that they shove down your throat now days.

I love the Bee Gees ... ( 1 month ago by AkitaSuzuki)
I love the Bee Gees. Even though I wasn't even thought of back then, I miss that old sound. The music choices I have to listen to today are nothing like this. When I listen to the things my parents love and compare it to what my generation listens to now, I think...what has the music industry been reduced to? My parents say that those were the best years of their life; when music was pure and people knew how to have a good time without going wild.
I love the BeeGees, ... ( 3 weeks ago by jpwjr1199)
I love the BeeGees, too; however, and I know I'm gonna get crucified for saying this on this thread, but it needs to be said: The Gibbs' were damn good pop song writers and made awesome records that were produced VERY well. That being said, they were competent musicians not great. That's a fact. I should also caution anyone listening to any boomer, including your own parents, romanticing their youth. It was their YOUTH that made it great for them NOT THE TIME in which they lived. Youth is good.
When you're older, ... ( 3 weeks ago by jpwjr1199)
When you're older, you miss your YOUTH. When people romanticize their past, it is normally because they miss being young. Getting old sucks, and it's easier, and way more convenient, for people to blame the suckiness of aging and project it outward on the rest of the world instead of looking in the mirror and saying, "Holy shit! The world is staying about the same, but FUCK AM I DIFFERENT, AND I DON"T LIKE IT!!!"
Another stroke of ... ( 2 weeks ago by Rescue162)
Another stroke of genius by the Bee Gees. They were able to popularize terms like "jive" that had been part of the African American vernacular for years. Also note "...whether you're a brother or whether your a mother..." in the song Stayin' Alive.
So if I'm ... ( 2 weeks ago by WavyGravy22)
So if I'm understanding you correctly here "jpwjr1199", you're saying that when most people (specifically the baby boomers....those who are currently 50 years of age or older) tend to look back at their youth with fondness it's only due to the fact they were physically young then and had little to no responsibilities and not of the time period in which they grew up and lived at that time?
Yes, exactly; ... ( 2 weeks ago by jpwjr1199)
Yes, exactly; altough it's not specific to boomers at all. Your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great-great grandparents etc. did it, as will my generation, as will the succedding generations. Youth is good. Once that's gone, you're fucked.
However, quite ... ( 2 weeks ago by jpwjr1199)
However, quite frankly, I cannot think of a more glaring example of the aforementioned than the "hippie/yuppie/boomer" generation. Perhaps because it's so large. A generation that TOTALLY, IRROVOCABLY, and COMPLETELY sold its princples to the devil himself, as soon as they were old enough to control things in the US.
A generation that, ... ( 2 weeks ago by jpwjr1199)
A generation that, in its youth, denounced capitalist culture and exposed it, by giving free food to strangers and by having a free and communal sharing of resources morphed into the generation that, once in power, saw the largest deregulation of big business since the 1920's, a completely speculative economy, record government millitary spending, outsourcing of jobs, an imperialist foreign policy, oppressive local governments, andMORE concision and propaganda in the corporate media than ever.
