I have the exact feeling and it's so sad remembering things from past MGS even now at Snake's health problem. In the end me and my friend were both crying... it's the first game that made me cry!

you might think this is a spoiler. but its not...if you use...L1 i think at the end of mgs2 (the last cutscene with the people on the street.) than you will be able to see vamp in the crowd. you can youtube a video of it. =]
