| Thank you so much for uploading this clip. I love Lopatkina; she is such a sublime dancer. Her peasant in act 1, in my opinion, resembles that of Galina Mezentseva while her Giselle ghost in act 2 really gave me a chill. |

| Why doesn't anyone tell these people that their arm positions are too high for the romantic style? It almost looks like Balanchine here. I like Lopatkina, but I find her too athletic in this Role. |

| Tarboujh. I agree with you. I don't like this athletic sytle, more suited to Olga Korbut. The Kirov/Mariinsky may set the standards for the rest of the world now. But they also seem to want to present money driven spectaculars which deviate entirely from the essence of the ballet. I prefer some earler versions from the Bolshoi, thank you very much. The Cuban Ballet and Alonso also knew how to present Giselle in a more authentic way. |

| Let me rephrase this another way. First, I was commenting on another video when I wrote she was too athletic, so I retract that. She's an exquistive Giselle, one of the best I've seen, and I've seen quite a few. Secondly, I agree, the Kirov tends to set the standard, but that doesn't mean in this case, that extensions that high are appropriate to the Romantic Style--I don't feel it is. It seems to be the trend, so I guess it's the norm now, but I don't like it. C'est la vie. |

| I'm not crazy about this production of "Giselle". The choreographic alterations bug me. But Lopatkina is quite beautiful, especially in her 2nd Act. I love the way she peels her feet off the floor; there is so much power and "weight" in each step, but at the same time it's all very light, and ghostlike. |
