Traditional Latin Mass: Feast of the Sacred Heart

Uploaded by: trady
Video Description:
Traditional Latin Mass filmed on the Feast of the Sacred Heart in the small chapel of the International Seminary of Saint Cure d'Ars, Flavigny, France, in 1999. The seminary is the Society of Saint Pius X's second European seminary. Typically seminarians spend their first year of spiritually there before leaving for Ec
ône, Switzerland, to complete their training. The film presents the ceremonies of the Missa Solemnis or Solemn High Mass with Gregorian chant and polyphonic motets. Some local customs take place during the Mass. For example, birettas are not worn and the Domini Non Sum Dignus is recited aloud by
all present. More astute listeners might also notice the French pronunciation, which is perhaps not the ideal. This film has been available on the Internet for quite some time encoded in a very low quality format. I have encoded the video here from an original source at the highest quality possible
given the size restrictions at Youtube. Unfortunately this has resulted in a slightly blurred picture and mono sound rather than stereo. Apart from the addition of captions, the film remains unchanged.

Dear friend, just a few comments on this topic.
a) I AM a traditionalist, nonetheless, I refuse the false triumphalism. The change back will not bring the faith back.
b) However I am sad to say this, but the instauration of the Pius V liturgy didn't stop the so-called "reformation" did it?
c) We do not observe this trend in Central Europe. However it should be said that here the number of catholics dropped due to communist regime.
d) You make a very common logical mistake...

...which is called "after therefore because". It's the same mistake John Maynard Keynes made when thinking about the reasons of the Great Depression. The fact that the fall in church attendance (or better said attrition from catholic church) happened AFTER the Vatican II does not mean it is due to the event. An extensive study and a index analysis of the results should be done to determine the causes. I myself count more on the "sexual revolution" and anarchy-like wave in the 60s. Reminds me of

Stupid nonsense. What is, when the popes since Johannes XXIII. have denied the tradition of the church? If you say, the past of the catholic church is wrong, the whole faith is wrong. The church wasn't found at Vatican II!

You, saveriomichael ... ( 2 weeks ago by XSchwert)
You, saveriomichael, have a crazy logic! Luther was a Protestant because he denied the tradition. Vatican 2 also denies tradition. But the true Catholic Church is the true tradition. And you too are denying and breaking with tradition. So you are the Protestant, and not the ones who stand strong in the storm of freemasonic "progression". It's clear, or not? And also the pope cannot contradict true tradition und true belief. If he does, then it comes not from the Holy Ghost.

They are not "dresses" they're vestments, each proper to the position occupied by the cleric, the music is Gregorian Chant, and it's not a downer, this music has been with the Catholic Church for centuries, there is nothing more beautiful than Gregorian Chant.

Thank you for posting this beautiful Video.... I am a Belgian, living in Brussels. I too would like to see the traditional Tridentine Mass to be reinstated. Not only do I think Latin is beautiful, but it has always been the Official language of the RC Church, which makes it truly Universal. With the help of the Missel, it was easy to follow Mass in whatever country you were. Now if you don't speak the language, you just cant participate actively. God Bless !!!

Originally at Papal ... ( 1 week ago by tomdtomd)
Originally at Papal Mass the subdeacon held on the paten a particle of a consecrated host from the Pope's previous Mass and, at the Masses in the parish churches of Rome, a particle sent from the Pope's Mass. This showed the unity of all Masses. Now the subdeacon simply holds the paten until it is required. The traditional allegorical interpretation of this is that he represents the Cherubim who veil their faces before the throne of God. This is just a pius interpretation.

Abandoning the Latin mass in the sixties was a bad PR-move on the part of the church.
