ok i know im going to get chewed out for this but in my OPINION Johnny Cash's version of this song is 10,000 times better than this one. I know NIN are the originals and kudos to them for making such awesome lyrics (except for the stupid crown of shit line????) but in terms of musical quality as in harmony or melody, there was almost none... so... thats just my opinion.

Without the harmony it's 10 times better. It's not about sounding great with a harmony, it makes it more heartfelt and true when it's just him singing the lyrics which make it so meaningful.

johnny cash actually changed this song, he changed one of the chords, if you listen one of the chords for the first bit (its the same if you listen to the piano verison with just trent too) sounds out of tune, johnny cash changed this then obliterated teh original with his cover, but, as said by most people, respect to the writer, without whom johnny's version wouldn't have happened.

Yes there is a better version and that is Trent's own. Love the old guy too anyway. Respek to him. But to be a deeper man, such a sad song as "Trend Reversal Heartbreaker" is one you really might need to understand life. For real depth just go type it in.
