I think he was born in Scotland & moved to the US in the 60s - coming back to the UK for 'Sapphire & Steel'. He sounds British to me in this clip.

Thanks so much for this! I've read an abridged transcript of this interview. It's wonderful to get to see the whole thing! And, to this American, David always sounds like he has a lovely, soft British accent. I imagine this is from living in the US for over 40 years.

great find this. im not sure if its affected but they do both seem to really be fond of each other. usually friends interviewing friends comes off badly but i think we got some nice stuff in this. loved the little thing at the end with them holding hands, looked very natural. you dont see much of that anymore in modern shows casts . :)

First of all...
So THAT'S what Joanna looked like the year I was born! lol Ahh '89, it was a good year! :P
Second of all... "The land of oppurtunity"! You can tell that Joanna's thinking, "Why would you leave England for that overcrowded wastepit full of obnoxious, ignorant, fat slobs?!" LOL!!! And he sounds totally British in this interview. Also I love how he was like "I'm married to an American and
I've got two American kids," as if they were commodities to him.

leaningoak, would you say that socialists work harder than capitalists? In my experience, socialists try to do as little as they can while at the same time demanding as much compensation as possible. If you think the "working man" is the hero, try writing 250 paychecks to people who don't pull their own weight and we'll see how fast you change your tune. I have empathy for your point of view as I used to have left leanings until I started my own company.

Also his 1st wife was the late Jill Ireland
who left him and married his Great Escape co-star Charles Bronsen.

In part its the horrible fashion and heavy make-up, lighting probably affects it too.
From my recollection that "mother Love" programme was really gripping and was v popular at the time, with everyone desperate for the resolution.
