Okay, so she didn't technically break up with her merman boyfriend, but she did leave him. Then she was having problems with her husband, so she went back to the sea, but she didn't change back into a mermaid and she drowned? That seems kinda unfair to the merman (who had his girl snatched away) and to her (who never asked to be made human) Is there something I'm missing?

Yes, that's it. But it's sort of that she forgot about her mermaidness when she changed human. So when she was ment to have found her neckalase, she rememberd it all because the hubby was keeping it a secret.
Yea, i know, the storyline/plot is awkward to understand coz i rushed it. =/
