THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL.
If the great master Cesar Franck ever heard this 'rendition', he would be shocked and extremely saddened. The guitar arrangement is atrocious, the two tenor voices do not match, the Latin is awful and it is so slow that it is dying on its feet. SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE.

organman - I agree and disagree with your comment. I agree, as a classically trained musician, this is an abysmal rendition of a sublime work. The voices don't match (Sting can't sing worth a rat's behind, can he???), the tempo sucks, the latin is anglicized, and whoever let Pavarotti take a mike in his hand should be shot. However, if you consider this as a vehicle to expose the current generation of spoiled rotten a**holes to music that is the basis for everything they know, then it's OK.

they had the guts to try something else. you peolple shod mind youre words because you compare a "try" with the original. think out of the box and if you are better YOU make a video with 2 male voices and a acoustic guitar. if not shut up. this is the way that music evolves. some are better some are not. sting sings!!! unlike other "singers" i could mention. First of all, how do you know that I - or anyone else - can or cannot do 'better'? Secondly, does every spectator at a baseball game need to be a first-rate pitcher in order to know that the pitcher is doing badly and needs to be replaced?

What a lame discussion! Who says Sting is trying to be like Pavarotti. I'm sure he knows he can never compete against Pavarotti in Pavarottis genre, but then Pavarotti couldn't compete against Sting in Sting's genre. Is there a law against singing an aria if you don't have classical training? And Pavarotti has sung hundreds of songs together with pop/rock stars. If he doesn't have a problem singing together with them, why should anyone else?
