i dunno, back when i was growing up emo used to be "emotional punk"... e.g. punk rock with emotional lyrics or an emotional feel to it i guess.. bands like the get up kids, saves the day, jimmy eat world, even the ataris to an extent... now though it seems to be all about screaming on about how hard life is, wearing eye liner, having a ridiculously long fringe and wearing skinny leg jeans lol

it seems like emo is the new uprising label.
most of the rumors about them is bull though. they dont always cut themselfs,cry,write sad poetry,or listen to dashboard.people need to stop thinking they know everything about them. and why are they hated so much more than punks and goths?

I'm with you. I wasn't weird or goth or scary or even emo when i was in highschool. I mean, I was into emo...but i didn't have a matching emo outfit to go with my state of mind....it wasn't a look or anything

The term emo should have died with bands like Jawbreaker, and Get Up Kids. Very few bands represent it properly. They are trying to band the "emo" look in Russia. They say emo kids were to much black. wtf? I thought that was for the goth kids, and the few who are stuck in the 80's with the Cure. i just duno anymore.

you might mean ban, or in the past tense it would be banned, but its cool. For some reason or another the term "emo" took a turn for the worse, or is it worst even im confused, in the past few years. Seems like the term emo went from weezeresque style of dress to some rapidly moving form of goth. I dont really know myself, and i dont really care, but i know i like the get up kids (besides guilt show) & I think thats all that matters.

well yeah you're right. this is emo. 2005 was emo's peak I'm pretty sure. what kids say now is stupid and a huge branding they're doing because they think it's cool to call anyone/thing emo. it's one of those things that was sweet when it started and then was bastardized after a couple years.

the first band i ever saw live. my favorite song by this band. one of my favorite band of all time. fabu-lash. why aren't there any smart bands anymore? these guys had talent and intellect. the rhythms, the lyrics, the arrangements. i miss the 90s.
