To be pedantic it isn't. The bass goes between do and so, while REM only used do. Arpeggios aren't owned by any one song.

It's not true, i play guitar and i can say for sure that are completely different, Everybody hurts has a principal theme of 2 chords (D Mag and G Mag) and it changes into other chords, in this song there are more changes and the rithm is also different... I like a lot both Everybody Hurts and this :D Muse and Rem are two of my favourite band

soldier's poem is quite different from REM's Everybody hurts. They both begin on D but Muse's song is more complex. It's stupid to say they sound similiar. There are lots of song that begin on D.

This is such a sad song. "Do you think you deserve your freedom?" is my favourite line... Says it all, how they send innocent people to their death, and that they don't deserve to be free when they do that. ;_; I almost cried!

not really the message. its more that freedom isnt deserved its earned. some choose to fight for it. the true heroes. and even if its wrong its still worth giving your life for (basically another line) "i would still lay down my life for you" either way, its a beautiful song
