Understood, that you can see the obvious reason why Janis was inspired by her, but she ALWAYS gave these artists credit and said it was from them that she received all of her influences. Janis Joplin was talented in her own right. They are both legendary.

Dream Duet: Big Mama and Janis Joplin trading licks back and forth on this song. Incredible. Janis LOVED Big Mama! This is why! This reminds me of Janis doing "One Good Man." Would LOVE to have seen Big Mama and Janis on the same stage trading off the lead. Peace.

Janis and Big Mama did perform together at the Avalon Ballroom in San Fransisco. I think the year was 1967/68. I have the first print poster of the concert in my theater room. It is available on secondary print or reprint on Ebay. Worth looking up. Great to see you out there FofJ. Peace.
