No they do not, they lower the barriers of entry to the market. A market that would still be dominated by the richest players. All the price driving you see would happen without them, only without the ability to enter the market by spending 10-20$. Instead a massive time investment would be the only way in. Most people are do not have and are not willing to invest that much time, therefore wealth in WoW would be controlled by an even smaller elite without the presence of gold farmers.
