Why is the focus of Edges just to transform Europe (if the message of Christ should be heard everywhere), and also if the fate of the world is already set by God?

The existence of ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
The existence of Jesus has been disputed, by many reputable historians (i can name you a few if you like, but please press "reply" this time so i know you have done so). Since most of the Christian sources written about Jesus were decades after his apparent existence, i do not consider them reliable sources. The non christian writtings on Jesus also do not mention his name, but rather refer to Christus [Messiah].
NOTE: The Josephus ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
NOTE: The Josephus source is disputed. Though i could go into an arguement about the word Christus and Jesus being common names in Israel, i just want to finish by asking how you can believe in something (refering to both the Bible and Jesus) that is so unreliable. Sorry for writing so much.
Josephus wasn't the ... ( 11 months ago by EdgesTV)
Josephus wasn't the only independent non-Christian historical source to speak of Jesus. In fact, there is more extant evidence for the existence of Jesus than there is for the existence of Julius Caesar and a number of other ancient figures of note. CS Lewis, once a confirmed athiest, became a Christian in the end simply because, he said, he couldn't explain Jesus away. To say that Jesus either did not exist or was not the unique figure portrayed in the NT is to fly in the face of history.

No sir he is not. However, like i mentioned previously, he is one of the few that actually refer to a person named Jesus; and that in itself can be disputed. Your claim that there is more extant evidence for the proof of Jesus than there is Ceaser is incorrect. I dont recollect any coins with a figure head of Jesus, or books written by Jesus. I dont really care what one confirmed atheist believes/believed, as im quite sure that there have been many more conversions from Christianity to Atheism.

There is nothing ... ( 11 months ago by ollonelycat)
There is nothing great that could possibly come from a Godless world. And the best things that could come from it would mean nothing if there is no God. For anything to matter in this world, there must be a God. It is easy to say, "live for the now and gain your earthly treasures and pleasures and stop not at any one's expense... For in the end we all rot in the dirt." Assuming there is no God, I don't imagine we will ever see another accident as perfect as the supposed "big bang." -

There are MANY ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
There are MANY things that could come from a (G)goddless world. To name a few, I think a world without mass bloodshed, exploited cultures and peoples, and basic human being freedom to believe what you want is fantastic compensation for an almighty devine creator. Though, when i say (G)god, i really mean religion, as i believe, through evidence and ecetera, there is no God.
I dont think the ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
I dont think the world needs a God, and i think your misunderstanding what an Atheist's world is. Atheists certaintly dont have any ideologies like that of your quote. I think your pretty ignorant about Atheists if you do believe that.
So now we are back ... ( 11 months ago by ollonelycat)
So now we are back to my original question that you didn't understand the first time...
Atheist = What ??? What is an atheist? What ideologies does an atheist have? What is the world of an atheist? And what would it have to offer?
First of all... ... ( 11 months ago by ollonelycat)
First of all... without the hand of God, do you really think that this world could ever be without mass bloodshed and exploited cultures (whatever that means)?
My take on organized religion is that they mostly serve to separate people when we should be teaching that we are all God's children. What is your conclusive evidence that there is no God? Furthermore, what significance will your life hold when nobody is left on earth?
I didnt understand ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
I didnt understand because you didnt make it clear. Atheist= A disbelief in any form of (G)god(s). Ideologies differ, but my own personal belief is that the world would be a better place without the dominate religions. By dominate, i mean the ones which force their beliefs on others, especially children, and third world countries.
I personally have ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
I personally have nothing against religion, i just have problems with people who use it to inspire fear, obedience, and taking away of liberal rights (such as abortion, being able to marry the same sex etc). Unfortunately, this incorporates a lot of religions. The world of an atheist: A happy one. What do Atheists' have to offer? A world without a (G)god, a world where every person has a right to make their own choices and doesnt have ideologies thrust upon them from a young age. More.
Though im not ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
Though im not saying an Atheist life is for everyone, some people believe in (G)god(s) because that makes them a better person, and that fine. Thats from my point of view as an Atheist. People differ, and thats whats great about it.
Im not saying ... ( 11 months ago by MachoJeans)
Im not saying religion is the source of all bloodshed that has been spread and spreads across this world. But it has played a MAJOR part. Exploited cultures, refers to any situation which the three Abrahamic Gods have replaced that societies custom of beliefs. Indigenous Australians, for example. There is no conclusive evidence, but the balance of probability (I believe) is there is no God. Richard Dawkins (a fantastic biologist) explains most of this evidence. No one left on earth?
Yes religions do ... ( 11 months ago by ollonelycat)
Yes religions do use control tactics in many ways, but Jesus didn't. Jesus came here and told us the truth and we have the option to believe him or not. he didn't say if you're gay or have an abortion that you are going to hell. He actually came to pay the price for our sins, and all he asked us in return was to have faith in him and believe that he was sent from God. Then he proved it by rising from the dead as well as the hundreds of other prophecies that he fulfilled.
Believing in God ... ( 11 months ago by ollonelycat)
Believing in God hasn't made me a better person yet. I still sin on a daily basis and I don't know if that will ever change. And fearing hell to some degree is a healthy thing because it very well may be real. Keep in mind that just because you don't believe in God, doesn't mean that he doesn't exist. So I'd much rather prefer to know that if he does exist, that my name is in the book of life. The world of an Atheist has absolutely nothing to offer me after I am dead.
Look at the ... ( 11 months ago by ollonelycat)
Look at the perfection of nature (leave the free will of gross humans out of the equation). To not think that there is something larger than us out there is arrogant. I'll place my faith in God and life (which cleary seems to be the safer bet), and all you have left is a stong hope and belief that I am wrong. If I am right, then you are in trouble. If you are right, we both just go in the ground. But at least I have a chance of winning. You have already defeated yourself by your own beliefs.

maybe you should just let it be, because I don't suppose we will reach a single agreement.
At this point, I feel like this conversation is a waste of time and energy because you have already decided your path in life, as I have mine, and they lead in very different directions. So unless one of us makes a u-turn...
