Man, you wanna talk ... ( 10 months ago by marctrainor)
Man, you wanna talk "country rock"!!! These guys wrote the book on it. I'm honestly sorry, that most of the country music community, is probably not familiar with these boys. They're so incredible. Marc Trainor.

Thanks for the info mrmesq53. This was truly a magical concert for them I think and they still had Richie. Wow!!!! I'll look for it. I love them so much. They literellay almost forced me to buy a steel guitar, because I loved that sound so much, and now I play professionally because of hearing them in the beginning. God Bless you guys!!!! Marc Trainor.

Ok, I'm almost "comented out", but these guys just grab me so much, I almost can't stop, but I'll try to, after this post. Look at that audience. They're so jazzed, they can't stay sitting down. I feel so much love from these guys, I can hardly stand it. I don't know about you guys, but Poco, filled a nitch that may not ever be filled again, in our lifetime. How many bands have you seen that actually can "jam" on a C&W song. I saw it here years ago with them in San Diego. Marc Trainor.

Back in the 70s I saw a great concert at Masonic Temple in Detroit. I think it was Gary Wright(dream weaver),another rock group,POCO and then King Crimson... Poco sounded great and the audience loved them.. Rusty blew everyone away with his slide guitar solos. Hard act for King Crimson to follow..Just goes to show...when you are that good, people will appreciate no matter what type of music.

saw them several times in the early 70's in NC as they opened for everyone under the sun. One show at Park Center in Charlotte had them playing Good Feeling to Know with an extended slide solo from Rusty at the end. the crowd went crazy. and when the song finally ended, the crowd was still singing the chorus. the band looked shocked and were stunned at the response. Ritchie asked if we wanted to hear it again and the noise nearly took the roof off. so, they obliged and played it a second time. t

It may sound daft, but when I play their music in the car or at home I feel like I am a teenager again. In fact, it is quite emotional! Wow.

That is a cool story, and sounds just like them. I saw them in 1973 on their "Good Feelin' to Know" tour. They were amazing. They blew away the crowd with their stunning vocals and instrumental prowess. Why they didn't become the biggest thing in America with that album, I will never understand. I guess God had other plans for Richey Furay. Do you remember their song "Restrain" off of the GFTK album? They played that tune so tough and smokin' hot, and it really moved the crowd.

Richie Furay wrote incredible songs. If rockers and country music people got together back in the 70's like they do today, Poco would be recognized as the great band they were.

Excellent post! Nice to see the boys could still do it after 30+ years. Remember them well. Wouldn't mind hearing a studio cut of this if you have it. Thanks. M.B.

POCO FOLKS: About ... ( 6 months ago by mrmesq53)
POCO FOLKS: About three months after this Live Reunion was recorded, Ggeorge Grantham---the drummer and high harmony---had a stroke, mid performance. He has a wife and children, and because of his vocation, little or no Medical Insurance. Even ten dollars, would make a difference. One of the "boys" is down and hurting, badly. This is, sadly completely legit. If you are interested to help, go to the Official Poco Website, and be guided by them. I'm just trying to help.

Iremember seeing tthis on 'In Concert' in I think '71. I tuned in to see the Allman Brothers but remember GFTK blew me away. I always wondered why I never really heard much of Poco on the radio. I searched YouTube because of that In Concert performance.

Neilcrab---That's the point! The only reason "new" Country exists today, is because of Poco, Flying Burrito Bros, etc from the 60's and 70's. The old-timers were actually ahead of their time, "new" Country took decades to catch up.

I saw that same show, and it blew me away too! I later had a radio show in London, Ontario and played GFTK so much the program director told me off!
