i had shit cymbals and a yamaha stage custom kit for a year or 2
you should upgrade cymbals and pedals to top range (A customs etc.) but make sure they are the ones you really want (ie. dont just get A customs cause they are proffesional cymbals if they arent the sound you want!).
New skins and decent tuning can make an intermediate kit sound like a pro kit and vice versa.. you only really need a pro kit if you are recording or gigging regularly (like 6 nights a week!)

Along with Bozzio and Minneman and Rabb and others, they're teaching us all a ton about our instrument and what we as players are capable of. They push the envelope for us, whether they make hit records or not. Continued ... con't ... Dom Famularo is neither a drumming genius nor a band player ... but he serves a huge role in keeping drummers positive and motivated. So hey man .. make room for everyone. There's no walls in here.

Nah dude, I personally like Lang for his personality and creativity. His speed isn't the most impressive, but he has some very impressive independence and coordination. He just motivates you to be more organized and serious about drumming, well in his videos.
