because the Canadien coast Guard is runned differently, they care more about polution and stuff like that then been like offshore police officers like the American coast guard.

Hey I love this video. I am acually in one of the pick in this. I was there on 9-11 and the pick really touched me. I spent 6 years in the coast guard and I miss every bit of it now. HOORA and Semper Paratus to all the men and women of the real work force of the United States.

$ years as Vert said and it makes you an Officer after you Graduate. You must serve 5 years Active and 2 years reserve as a minimum service requirement. Im trying to get into it at this moment since im a HS Junior/senior. Hope this helps :)

You must have a valid work visa and you can only go certain rates that do not require a secret clearance. You can only reenlist after you have gotten your American Citizenship. Talk to a recruiter near you if your really interested.

The USCG is its own branch of the military. They are responsible for defending America's coastlines. They also keep watch over NAVY ships when they are in port at home or abroad. There are a lot of people that put down the USCG because they don't think it is the "real military" but those are the people that don't have the brass to serve in any branch so we disregard them. 3 more years til I can enlist with the USCG. Can't wait to serve.

coast guard puts lives on the line 24/7 365...no other military can say that. no disrespect but if we arent in time of war, the other branches dont see the same amount of action. coast guard kicks ass and its becoming more apparent through shows like deadliest catch that show exactly how dangerous waters can be.
