Most of the ovations I've tried sounded very piezo-ey and trebly, with the exception of a few. I remember playing one or two natural sounding ones.

no no no! Ovations have a beautiful, rich, deep and LOUD sound. they're experimental guitars, in no way natural or conventional. my ovation has never sounded 'nasal' or 'treble-y'. I find they're very bass heavy because of the deep bowl back. You dont absorb any sound into your chest and the music is porjected outward that way.

Kaki King never had a Facebook page before. So I decided to start my own. Just go ahead and type in "Kaki King" in the search box and you'll see the page: "Kaki King" (obviously LOL). I want to see if King's fanbase is still out there somewhere. Long live King!

She's not playing Ovations per se, but Adamas by Ovation, which although from the same makers are a very different guitar. Primarily the top is carbon graphite and has the tone that so many top players choose, as opposed to the wood topped Ovations. The piezo sound you've had a problem with has to do with their choice of pickup and most of the upper line Ovations and Adamas come with a better sounding system now.

That's her own custom Adamas by Ovation, which has a carbon graphite top; much different than a standard Ovation.

im sure in person it sounds more alive and full but those guitars are for more of your Latin jazz fusion kind of guitar playing like Al Di Meola,ect.
