Of course, the Pistols-Grundy episode only went out in the London area, contrary to popular myth (and to the claim in one of the next day's tabloids that someone in Rotherham had kicked in their TV in disgust). 'Live into 85' must be the last time "gay" was used on TV, in a new production, in its
original sense.
I've commented myself on the similiarity between some ruralist-hippie values and the political right That's pretty interesting. I'm trying to think through some of the mysteries of the 70s and I'd like to hear more about that. The Albion Free State stuff may have something to do with the Blakean fantasies of the poet Michael Horovitz. Don't quote me but.
