My idea is to have a constant fiat money supply. Not because there is not enough gold to serve as the money supply (that's a deep misunderstanding of economic principals), but because the idea of a commodity currency is difficult to handle and there is also the problem of shifts in the money supply as gold is withdrawn on demand.

How would you inject the money into the markets if you don't set interest rates? Besides, you're giving too much credit to politicians. They have already proven they can't be trusted when they broke the Bretten Woods agreement. There's just too much temptation to control the money supply to your favor.

Warren Buffett was quoted today with something to the effect that he "doesn't need to look at the market to see we are in a recession" recession isn't just stocks and bonds, gas prices, etc. Just look at what your money can buy today compared to november'07. My frugal grocery bill has almost doubled, and i'm in Canada. Our dollar is sinking along with the American one. Peter Schiff is my Obi Wan Kenobi Ron Paul is my Yoda Use the Force and Fix our Markets! LOL
