That's not true ... ( 2 months ago by skyiscrying53)
That's not true because rock comes from the blues and as long as there are someone with a guitar and a great story to tell then the blues and rock will live on. Furthermore with people like Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton still alive i think the Blues and Rock n Roll wont' be going anywhere
we all have our ... ( 2 months ago by skyiscrying53)
we all have our opionion but i hear alot of different people's influences in srv playing. From the way he dressed to the way he played he basically wore his influences on his sleevves...Just check out Elmore James or Hendrix and you will hear similiar playing styles..Anyway, he was good but i would not say the best because to be the best you have to be one of the first and the fact he was not the first to play in this style...RIP SRV
listening to radio ... ( 2 months ago by licataj2007)
listening to radio stations in new york back in 1988 exspecially scott muney WNEW ny, it was an historic time when steveie ray was on the airwaves.stevei blew away everything on the radio and he made the blues come back to the mainstream radio .Since his passing .Radio took a nose dive and went the other way.Yes we have clapton and BBking but the blues was stopped from the main stream radio when stevie died.We havent had nothing like stevie since he died and the radio limits blues to grow

Bit of a far call ... ( 1 month ago by garethlott)
Bit of a far call to say that to be the best you haveto be one of the first!! To be the best you simply have to be the best (quality)- makes no difference if you're first, middle or last (timing). I've seen Clapton live several times, Stones, Buddy Guy, James Taylor, the list goes on, but Stevie was by FAR the best live performer in his genre - at least out of the shows I've experienced. But you're right - we all have our opinion...
my point was to say ... ( 1 month ago by skyiscrying53)
my point was to say that although stevie was great at what he did if you actually listen to his playing style he copied from alot of the greats such as Albert King and Elmore James..I list goes on and on... Yes he broutht the Blues mainstream to a white audience but others had done it before such as Clapton and the Stones.

Dont declare ... ( 1 month ago by dropless2002)
Dont declare someone 1 or 2. It like arguing over a color. Its just stupid. Theres no best. I love Stevie, Hendrix, Wylde Dime, Vai, Satch, there all there own character and bring there unique sense on guitar.
I can see what ... ( 1 month ago by FlossPoint07)
I can see what you're saying. I could "play circles" around some other guitar players, on the technical tip, but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy their music. I mean look at Jimi and Dylan. Jimi could smoke Bob Dylan on the guitar, but Jimi loved Bob Dylan's music because Dylan's a hell of a song-writer. And Jimi, of course, did a stunning version of Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower", among other Bob songs.

You can tell he was doing dope when put on that get up. You really have to be able to play to wear some shit like that. And, he's the only one that plays good enough to wear that. Rock on, KING. WE ALL MISS YOU

everytime I drink, which is rarely, but when I do, this is the best song to listen to when you have a great man, and a great son, and a great buzz. Stevie we miss you and Love you man! RIP
SRV was just too ... ( 3 weeks ago by scackley)
SRV was just too smooth.......every song he played he put his unique spin on it. This is what made his style so sought after.
And he had such a sense of humor on his vids.......53 seconds he flips the bird and no one even noticed. He is rockin in Heaven with all the others who left us too early

You obviously missed the point of the song and don't actually understand SRV's story. He wrote this song after quitting drugs adn alcohol, about fighting his addiction (he dropped cocaine in his JD, that is why he had so many stomach problems). And that get-up is just his style. RIP SRV...
