Takeshi no Chousenjou (Takeshi's Challenge)

Uploaded by: doorselfin
Video Description:
A video of a man trying to complete the infamous videogame, Takeshi no Chousenjou (Takeshi's Challenge) and failing. The game was released in Japan for the Nintendo Famicom in 1986 and was designed by comedian and director Takeshi Kitano.
This game is known for the outrageous tasks it asks the player to perform, such as use the included 'Nintendo Famicom Controller II' and its in-built microphone to sing karaoke continuously for an hour without touching any other buttons, and hitting the final boss 20,000 times to defeat him. The
game is essentially an experiment in breaking as many videogame rules as possible, as well as testing the patience of the player. The opening screen states: "This game is made by a man who hates videogames". The game is regularly listed by the Japanese public as one of the Top 50 Famicom games.

This game is impossible to play on an emulator. You need a mic which the second pad on the Famicom has. Emulators don't have a mic option.

Hey, fuckwit, notice that I'm replying to a COMMENT. That comment says, "How are you suppose to do that on an emulator?" This is a good question considering this game utilizes the microphone feature that was only on the Japanese Famicom. Have a lesson in comment hierarchy. Indented means it was a reply to the topmost non-indented comment. Thank you for playing.

Not true.

I doubt it. Nintendo hid FF2, 3, and 5 from us, supposedly due to their difficulty. I don't even think this game was licensed by Nintendo. Why would they? If you worked for a game company, and a guy walked up to you and said "I hate video games. Here's a sample of my gruesomely difficult work." would you even give it one thought before throwing it in the trash?

He made it to scare people away from platformers. He wanted people to share in his hatred. Or something. Not unreasonable-sounding, the way I put it. :D

Probably the same kind of people who actually DO sing karaoke. Isn't that what it is? Amateurs singing in public?

If he sold me on the marketing aspects of it all as well as he sold them on it, then yeah, I'd consider it.

Well, they also hid the real Super Mario Bros. 2 from us for the same reason. Of course this game will never be ported, but the mere concept of a game intentionally developed to be frustratingly difficult out of spite for video games is pretty interesting.

Oh yeah your suppose to sing a couple of time and even leave the controller for a couple of hours to complete the tasks of the game. it's just supposed to be comedy.. xD

You mean Square, NOT Nintendo! FF2-3 were skipped because FF1 came out very late in America and instead of translating a game for an outdated system, they decided to translate a game for a new one (FF4). It was FF5 that was considered too hard for Americans.

Wow, two thumbs down for saying what was basically true. Square was in charge localizing their games, not Nintendo. :p
