WHS Blue Thunder Band, Color Guard and Dance Team and the Suzanne Middle School 8th Grade Challenger Band and Color Guard from Walnut, Ca at the WHS football game on 11-03-06. We had SMS come and play in the stands as well as pregame and as special guests in the post game show to see how fun it is to be part of Walnut High Blue Thunder. Over 120 members of the SMS 8th grade Band & Color Guard with 301 members of WHS Band and Auxiliary was an awesome sight and sound.

yeah dr. clements does works us hard but he has a crap load of stuff to do himself so he cant always do the things he wants it to be like bluethundersax said there are orchestras and other jazz bands and 4 period.

It's amazing the size of Walnut High Band. When I was in high school back in the early 80's, before most of you were alive, Walnut had the tiniest band. Back then they were called WHS Mustang Band not Blue Thunder. They hadn't built DBHS yet, so the enrollment was over 4000, yet it had a 30 or so piece band, but they had the best majoreete (a guy) in the US.

I went to Camas highschool and was lead trumpet ibn the pep band and this is one of the most impressive bands ive ever heard andive heard alot about the program, huge band, my band was 100-140 strong depending on the day

We were marching with over 100 8th graders who never marched before to a rim tap with over 30 rows that was hard to hear because it was senior night, so we had to be quiet while they were doing announcements.

We are leaving for Disney World this Sunday for a week and Hawaii is next year or the year after that. Worth it? Well I guess it's what you make of it. Try it for a year and decide. Better to give it a try than regret never giving it a go. It's been worthwhile for me and many others.

Well Im going into freshman year is band harder when your in marching band? Because you need to remeber the music and steps. Last year i was in mmarching band but we had lil folders on our instruments [[percussion]]. Is it harder??

Well, its really not hard at all. You end up playing the music so much, you dont even think about what yoru playing. As far as the marchign is concerned, its the same thing. You march the same thing over and over again for anywhere from 3-4 months. its really fun.

yeah, it's harder at first. after a while it becomes second nature. it gets drilled into you. and in a way, it's easier because when you march, you feel the beat, so you know where your notes are supposed to be and for how long.
