| That was before USB 2. USB 2, is generally, not always, slower than firewire 400 and always slower than 800. firewire has far less overhead. USB 2 will never hit the theoretical maximum of 480mbps in the real world. The reason they switched from firewire is because they branched out into the PC market more heavily after the second generation and it was cheaper to supply one type of cable, and PCs rarely have firewire unless they're video machines. |

Bill Gates basically stole the Mac OS on the original Macintosh right under Steves nose, by tricking Steve to hire Microsoft to develop software, but really he was using it as an opportunity to see the Mac OS and steal everything. | Umm it switched to USB 2.0, which drastically improved the SLOW speed of USB. So Firewire was far better than USB, and now USB 2.0 is better than Firewire. So at the time he was right. |
