| On a more serious note, a hand-grenade sized device could never house enough plutonium to reach critical mass, which is required for a nuclear blast. I think you'd need at least 50~100KG to have a successful chain reaction. Unwieldy to say at least. However, a device small enough to fit into the trunk of small cars exists for decades. Not exactly suitcase-sized, more like travel case sized. The recent scare is that Russia may have lost track of a few such devices after the collapse of Soviet. |
