They were not hated by their own people, they were honoured by them and respected. However after WWII they were not allowed. After WWII everyone took over Germany and changed it they did not want National Socialism to come back so they brainwashed the people against it, especially the Soviets.

waffen ss only was for combat,ther was skull head division trhat had SAME skull on helmets etc as kz guard divisions and tank crews...thats why dumb allied and noobs thin they were killing jews...lol waffen ss was :most discipline,most skill,most and newest equipment and feared from armed enemies and not own people...in1941 66 percent i repeat 66 percent of waffen ss soldiers were DEAD due to enthusiastic fighting-style and lack of experience among their leaders but they learned and became elite

Look at the situation over in the East at the time the Bolsheviks which was Jewish run and the whole of Communist Russia was controlled by Jews and look what they had done? Under Stalin approx. 60 million of his own countrymen killed. When the Waffen SS came to Ukraine it was under an artificial famine and welcomed the SS. It would be explainable if members of the Wehrmacht were part Jewish, and true the Waffen SS's policy on its members did become less strict over the years of the war, but I doubt that they would still allow those of part Jewish blood in.
Secondly, you say "lets remember what they did" Lets remember what the Communists and Allies did. They commited countless warcrimes and just because they won it seems that its all alleviated. Countless raping, and plundering happened all over in the East.

The 'war crimes' were necessary.
Partisans were killing German soldiers that occupied their country so to prevent it from happening again and setting an example. A bit similar to the Vietnam War, the Americans couldn't find the Vietcong so they went through villages and culling the populace. Its just taht today, everyone uses almost anything to condemn the Nazi's further.

Well you are right that The U.S slaughtered alot of the Vietnamese Civilians but it wasn't "Our" War,South Vietnam asked us to join because they knew they would get their ass kicked without us.But then we said screw it.So I guess We didn't want to lose men for stupid bullshit like the Vietnam War.

The Americans didn't want communism to spread. There was a fear of it, and then there was the 'domino' theory. The Americans weren't 'invited' the practically invited themselves. The Americans were using antiquated tactics and relied heavily on their technology.

That excuse has been around forever....and it is worthless. I grew up in, and live in, the South (USA). I also grew up believing the Confederates were right and the North wrong. The same reasoning was used more or less, 'I'm not for slavery I'm just fighting for Virginia (like Robert E Lee), or Texas, or Georgia, etc etc. Every man and woman is responsible for discerning good and evil and some day answerable to God for it.

There were difference between the Tankers skull of the WH and the SS skull. Many german tankers was killed as POW because they where thought to be members of the 3rd SS panzerdiv. "Todtenkopf"
