This is what I absolutely needed to get my face out of the book! I had become so technical in trying to learn in the past 10 mos that I became frustrated in improvising. You brought it home for me (technique, counting, listening and watching) that I've moved on to a whole new level. You rock! (THANK YOU)

I count it as a fast 5/8 meter and "feel" it in groups of two and three. At fast tempos you don't count 12345 but "feel" the 1 and 3 or 1 and 4. I think counting it as 3 might lead to some confusion.

Fair enough... There are many different ways to count it. As with counting it in 3's, you will eventually be able to feels it. By counting 1, 2, 3 the way I described in the video you are really counting, and eventually feeeling, the 1, 3, and 5, like you said. The goal is to be able to eventually play it by feel at faster tempos. Thanks for sharing another counting technique!

That counting in threes method was a huge help, man. I used to just rely on muscle memory to cram the five strokes into my measure. That way's far more precise, allows me to feel the groove out alot better. Thanks!

Man, I've been trying to figure out a way to "hear" quintuplets so that they feel natural, without having to count each stroke. THANKS for a very helpful lesson. Keep up the great work.
