This kit comes out in march and is supposed to be around $699. The cymbals are realistic but muffled with triggers attached. You can't find a cheaper kit with these capabilities.

You actually don't use phones from the IO, but you Can plug into your computer.
As for a mixer, I use the PreSonus Firebox for it's pre-amp, but mainly for it's ability to go to mixer or sound system.

My Alesis kit is coming in August! The only problem is that the sales rep here says "for the FIRST TIME . . . real cymbals" on a midi kit.
That is not true at all. R.E.T. Percussion's electronic drums have had real cymbals for a long time. Hart Dynamics kits too. . . for years. I hate it when sales people overstate things to make it seem like they have some kind of edge over the competition. All it does is make them look like dish

'it says for the first time an electronic kit has real cymbals and real drum heads all together' im aware that's not completely true .. question is - are the skins manufactured by RET or a skins brand like REMO on the RET kits?? coz if manufactured by RET then technically one could argue this guy is right. but then again who gives a shit coz ur pretty much spot on.
