You don't need to be a genius to get this movie. An oil man makes empty promises to people to better the size of his income. A young preacher gives empty promises of redemption and spiritual freedom to better the scope of his influence amongst a town. Both men are greedy - both are selfish while claiming to be selfless. Still, I hated this movie. It was dull, it had NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WHATSOEVER, the character choices seemed confused, and overall it was just a bad movie wrapped in gold.

You will never be anywhere near as good an actor as Daniel Day-Lewis is in a trillion years so shut the fuck up you starving actor/comedian. This movie is amazing and so are the actors...thats the reason they were cast..and paid the big bucks...you will never achieve what Daniel or the other actors have in their lives so shut the fuck up and continue being a bartender in LA. I'm afraid Your choices are confused.

What's the song between 0.30 and 1.00 called?.... It's not on the Jonny Greenwood OST.... and btw... If you don't like this movie, you clearly don't have any taste. This movie is an instant classic. The acting of Daniel Day-Lewis was brilliant (oscar) and the script is outstanding.

Oh My God. I just finished watching this movie and let me say - WHAT AN AWFUL MOVIE. I can't believe I wasted 2 and a half hours watching it. There was not one part of this movie which I enjoyed, I disliked every character, it just really makes me mad how much praise this got.
