Coast Guard Hoists Man from Humboldt Bay
Uploaded by: USCGImagery
Video Description:
McKinleyville, Calif. -- At 10:45 a.m. Coast Guard Group Humboldt Bay received a "mayday" transmission from a 19-foot vessel in Arcata Bay. The vessel was reporting that a man on board was not breathing. Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay diverted an HH-65C aircraft (CG6544) from a training mission to report to the bay to assist. Because of the aircraft's low fuel state a second aircraft was launched to assist. Upon arriving on scene, CG6544 lowered the rescue swimmer and EMT gear to assist with CPR and prepare the injured person for transport to the hospital.
After lowering the swimmer, CG6544 departed the scene while a 25-foot Coast Guard response boat remained on scene awaiting the arrival of the second aircraft. While preparing the injured person for transport, the second aircraft (CG6570) arrived on scene. CG6570 hoisted the man to the aircraft a
nd transported him to Saint Joseph's Hospital.
