I admire Mike for his decency in the face of such an ad hominem attack from Mr Limbaugh. He's got a voice and, last I checked, a right to advocate on behalf of any candidate he likes. The shame (I rarely use that word) is that he advocates for public help in a finding a cure for a set of diseases and he's excoriated as being political (?). Meanwhile, Mr Limbaugh advocates that Mike be quiet for _his_ own personal monetary gain. Nobody (besides Mr Limbaugh) benefits when Rush wins this one.

I am totally pro stem cell research! There are too many benefits to "all" of mankind to NOT move forward with this science. How many good people do we have to lose before we all wake up and realize this (stem cell research) "is" pro-life?!?!

Michael J. Fox is a great man. I will save a pray for him, since he makes me feel good with his movies and good acting. Now he has courage to appear in public with his desease, I can understand him, but nobody else can help him to feel all right, cience is not evolving like people deserve.

Hes an admirable man. Over the last few years his parkinsons has really set in. Somedays it amazes me that he hides it so well when acting in small roles in series such as Scrubs.
Hes a remarkable actor and is a great spokesperson for a disease that actually affects so many people, and with such a little cure. How dare that Rush say that he wasn't on meds just to have more pity! Even if he wasn't, THATS what parkinsons is! Look at Muhummad Ali! (I probably spelt that wron

Stem cell research (the legal one) is quite different from embyronic stem cells research. Embryonic stem cells can potentially repair any damaged tissue because it is a precurser to form all the organs in the body so it is not selective as opposed to adult stem cell's which have to be harvested from the certain tissue you want to repair. Expample heart cell to repair damaged heart.

I certainly feel sorry for him being afflicted and even more so that he has placed his hope on the government funding something that even private companies see as a losing venture. I would simply suggest those people who would vote for this to fund it as well.

Rush Limbaugh is a fat bastard who needs to come down with a case of MS to understand the importance of stem cell...since when did obese gutter trash animals become experts in medicine? Doctors and scientists have alot more morals and ethics than politicians, so Ill trust them any day to use their info for good rather than bad.

I really thought name calling and making fun of people of differnce had been left to the school yard... My kids (7 & 8) saw Rush and were upset that he was being a bully. Looks like it has left the school yard but now the bullies are grown up and wear suits.

Rush vs. Michael aside, this issue is really about embryonic vs. adult stem cell research. Embryonic research is immoral because even science does not dispute that human life begins at conception. Creating and destroying human life in the lab, no matter how worthy the reason, is wrong because it terminates a human life. Adult stem cell research moral because human life is not sacrificed to do it. I am a 30 year diabetic,but I do not want a cure which comes at the expense of innocent human life.

As a Physical Therapist I have worked a lot with people with Parkinson disease. RESPECT to MJF and his spirit and courage! There is so much wisedom in his words. RESPECT!

When I see Michael J. Fox, courage does not come to mind. I think he is a desperate individual who is suffering greatly and is concerned about helping himself just as anyone would be in his situation. What he is doing takes no courage in my opinion. I do not think he should be regarded as some couragous hero who is fighting for the advancement of american science/health out of the goodness of his heart.

The only reason there isn't federal funding for this yet is that Bush and the big pharm companies haven't figured out how to make money on it yet. Can you imagine a world where every person's cells could be used to heal? What "medicines" would they lobby and band together to "protect" and charge us immoral prices for then? They don't want cures, they want profits.
