This music is almost hypnotic and the text is fitted perfectly to the music, as Bach was a master. Christ is all we need, and that being achieved and assured of by His Precious Blood, we can easily face death with peace and joy.

Whom... Jesus? Who said you'd need him? This piece is as most (I don't dare to say all, I know too little about Bach's works) of Bach's works in a religious context. This at one hand due to the time it was written in, at the other hand was Bach (in spite of his works) very religious. I don't care about the religiousness of his works... meanwhile I have to say that one can call his works divine.

Divine. It is beyond me to explain how such a beautiful work could have come into existence, other than by the hand of a genius. This man was truly illumed by God, his music represents the final state of western classical music's evolution; pure perfection, pure beauty.

Forgive me; I meant to say that Bach's music represents the fulfillment of all the musical possibilities of his time; in Bach, we find the ultimate maturity of a polyphonic musical style that had been developing for hundreds of years prior to his coming. Has anyone written greater fugues, motets, cantatas, or passions? Schutz perhaps. I truly think that Bach is the greatest; Siegfried has yet to enchant me as do Bach's works, which touch the depths of my soul whenever I listen to them.
