Airodump captures it. Sending the deauthenticate with aireplay causes the connected client to reconnect and make the handshake. If s/he had switched back to the airodump screen, in the top right, added after where the date usually is, you'd see "WPA Handshake:" and their mac if it was successful. Airocrack works on the saved .cap file that airodump saves the handshake into.

Is it possible to crack a WPA network that has a passphrase with a word NOT in the dictionary and WITHOUT using brute force? It seems like the only way to crack WPA is if they have their passphrase as a common word...

I have tried this but NO WAY to get tru you need a good dictionery and you still wont be able to hack the WiFi network I think it's worth to try but the chanses are 15% to hack. And ufcorse you need Ubuntu for this. sorry for my bad english.

i know exactly what ubuntu is and its capabilities for i have ubuntu partitioned on my hard drive.. i kno windows and ubuntu are polar opposites, my objective was to relate to another using something that was familiar with the user i was speaking too.
