Gary! THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video. As usual, you broke it down. I was getting really annoyed with the ignorance that has been popping up on Youtube in response to this video, I hope others will view this to get a true understanding of the big picture.

the problem that affects most young african americans is that they don't understand the struggle that their ancestors went through to get them to the point where they can freely express themselves and they choose to express themselves in the wrong way because they emulate the media. i think it's time for a new example to be set.

Thank you so much. We are competing for the minds of our people against all of the various forces that are out to maintain an atmosphere of anti-intellectualism and mass ignorance. So those of us who see falsehood and love our people must respond to it with truth.

The only information provided here was that of a racist nature. Doesn't matter what color you are, to generalize and say that all black people's behavior is negative is straight up racist. If given the right circumstances and opportunity, anyone, whatever the color will "show their ass". However, it has become a reported fact that the girl on the train has a mental disorder which was magnified because for whatever reason, she had not taken her medicine. Also "Soulja..." is WORLD popular.
Actually, I know ...( 4 months ago by garybooker)
Actually, I know the family of this person and I am quite aware of her condition. It still does not refute the fact that repeated negative images in the media have taken effect here.

Where did I say/imply this in this video?
At 5:30, this ...( 4 months ago by mdad40)
At 5:30, this assumption is made only after at 5:18, the HUMAN race is mentioned (a point in my previous reply). Immediately after at 5:32, the generalization is halted by referring to people of color which could be of any race outside that of the "caucasion persuasion". It's at 5:30 on the counter that has me bothered. The actual lumping, categorizing, boxing, shipping and mailing off of the "black person" that I'm referring to.......and I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees this.
There are elements ...( 4 months ago by garybooker)
There are elements of this problem that indeed apply to all of the human family, but one would have to have the naivete of a kindergartener to have doubt that ethnic image manipulation did not play a significant role in this incident, and others like it. You obviously do not spent much time thinking about image manipulation, and do not know how to recognize it. Now you are free to ask critical questions if you have doubts, but right now your doubts are simply the result of a lack of awareness.
No, I believe this ...( 4 months ago by mdad40)
No, I believe this incident was largely the result of meds or the lack thereof. Image manipulation by the media is not key here. If you are referring to the influence of a world wide popular song, then include other races as well not just the "ethnic" side of it and the media puts out images everyday (commercials), of which could be considered manipulation. It's our response to these images of which we should be completely "aware" and accountable. Solution #1: Change the channel.
My friend, "Change ...( 4 months ago by garybooker)
My friend, "Change the channel" isn't a viable solution unless you are going to completely turn off the television, turn off the radio, and go live in a cave with Bin Laden. And NOBODY is disputing that this incident is the result of a failure in the mental health crisis. But again, this isn't just a mental health issue. Clinically sane or not, the transition of ethnic stereotypes via classical conditioning by popular media is still a very real thing, and mental illness only AMPLIFIES it.
You don't like what ...( 4 months ago by mdad40)
You don't like what you're seeing on tv then simply change the channel to something with more substance. Better yet, solution #2 would be to yes, turn it off and read a book. Even better than that would be solution #3: Hit the advertisers in the pocket...which would give media outlets no other alternative than to present better images. Why has this not taken place? Demand. In this case: Popular song demanded popular video supplied be the media spawning world wide phenom. Result: Marta video.

I agree! This is precisely why it is necessary to bring these types of issues to light whenever a phenomenon like this occurs, and it is blatantly obvious that popular media has generated a cause/effect relationship. As I said before we can't COMPLETELY blame this on the radio/tv, but it definitely has played a more-than-significant part.
So it is agreed ...( 4 months ago by mdad40)
So it is agreed that this issue goes far beyong that of ethnicity or "black people", because guess what? The girl in the video could've been white, asian, indian etc. The song could have been a popular rock, pop or country song. Doesn't matter, it's the influence of these televised images which some people may perceive as negative that's obviously prevalent and presents itself as an ongoing problem...that is unless the mass population decides to do something about it.
Great debate. Thanks G B
Yes, it is indeed ...( 4 months ago by garybooker)
Yes, it is indeed more than ethnicity, AND we must be sure to understand that "beyond an ethnic matter" is not the same thing as "ethnicity was not involved." All of pop culture has been affected by negative social norms, but we cannot ignore the pervasive ethnicity-specific negative social norms that are promoted by commercial rappers and psuedohiphop. We both can definitely agree that people need to turn the TV off and start digensting some food-for-thought.

Part1
As one who was around before these song styles became popular, I have to add that the owners of the media purposefully filled the airways with this conditioning method.
in the mid 1980's - early 1990's I was asked to work within the industry to help produce these types of songs. I refused after hearing several albums worth of this "new" music...

Part2
I heard in this "new music"(gansta rap), a very dangerous and destructive series of messages.
I saw the various forms of the music, at that time, more as a mind control device than anything else. Conditioning 101.
I thought that it was so simple to see that even a child should have seen throug h it and rejected it, but this didn't happen.
Question
Now that a good chunk of the population is so conditioned, how can the conditioning be undone?
