Well Knight of Cross is great movie...Too bad u missed the best scenes - intro in tents and charge of light lithuania -russo cavalry Instead all this comments you could translate rather what all this knights are talking....Without understanding the orders there is no way to understand the strategy of both sides.. Bohemians banner were part of Alies army -not Teutonic...

This movie is not very accurate. First it shows Jogaila (or Jagiela as poles call him , whatever) as the main chief in battle though he commanded only poles. Second lithuanian army is shown as pussies running away from the field, though they, together with tatars, played the main role in this battle by destroying Valenrod's left german flank of elite cavalry, and hitting the rest of teutons in the rear so acomplishing the fighting on polish flank and bringing the victory

latest version of numbers for those who don't read: 15000 polish, 11000 on lithuanian side out of whom about 6000 lithuanians, 3000 tatars and the rest were russian and some foreign mercenaries. Against 21000 of best trained and best armed army in europe. Lithuania had no chances fighting on their own, nor poles did. This battle was a bet va bank, and it's a national pride for both nations. Cause if they lost it, today they would be speaking german, no doubt

Now Poland got all the credit, and Germans lost 100 %, and there were not taters in this, and yes Lithuanias were pussies that ran in feilds while Poles were well trained knights in full armor and rode on well trained horses.

amount and even quality of armor won't guarantee victory for you. Yes it's almost invincible to light calvalry in tight formation, but when unit is disorganized and split in many pieces, knights become easy pray for fast and mobile units. Tatars were masters in using those advantages in their tactics. they used it in Vorskla battle against united forces of teutons, lithuanians, poles and mockals, and were victorious. Lithuanians got a very good lesson and didn't waste their chance near Grunwald.

Monte078: don`t be worryied about some ignorants. We have great history and culture TOGETHER. Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth was great. This battle was a big victory, but the rest of war... We didn`t get Malbork, but we can. Some historians say that Jagiello don`t want Poland to get stronger position in commonwealth. Only terytory which order gave back was Samogitia (
Żmudż), but teutons had polish Pomerania with Gdansk. Jagiello swear that he get back all polish lands when he was crowned.
