i think everyone is reading too much into this movie. The fact is that Elizabeth was a great queen, & under her rule the english effectively defeated the spanish armada. England being a newly Protestant nation, under a female ruler no less, made religion such a "hot button issue"...which is why this movie concentrates so heavily on Catholic assassination/conspiracy plots. now why don't we all jst sit back & enjoy cate saying "they shall not paaaass!" like a tudor version of lord of the rings?

This is about the spanish armarda and the build up to it, and turkey were not involved with this Battle at all. And the reason we fought each other was Spain tried to invade England and take it over. The Spanish could not stand Elizabeth I because she was a protestent, and England was a protestent country so they tried to invade it, and would of violated it for their own gains and ruled it on their terms. It had the popes backing also, but Englands Navy decisively defeated them at Gravelines.

funny the grotesque manipulation at every level. Also the physical appereance of Spaniards, who do not look like most Spaniards. Google Carlos de Coloma, Spanish Embassador and compare him with the "Spanish" Ambassador in the film (not a Spaniard)

I'm neither English nor Spanish but what you're talking about is total bullshit. You said "ur country (Spain) is poor and shitty. All its usefull for is for brits to make tourism." I would like to remind you of the fact that Spain got out of a dictatorship just 20 years ago and therefore started its reconstruction 30 years later than England, Germany, France and Italy. Nevertheless Spain is growing at impressive rates compared to the rest of western europe.

It has already surpassed Italy in terms of average wealth, it is getting closer to France and if England continues to grow at this very low rates, it will be surpassed by Spain before the end of the next decade. Here's a country the started rebuilding itselft 30 years later than you and already has the possibility of surpassing you during the next decade.

You are saying that British colonies were successful and spanish colonies were not. That may be true but you shouldn't forget that colonizing North America was far easier than colonizing South America. In the north there were few indigenous tribes that were (almost) totally destroyed by the brits (that explains why the big majority of the american/canadian populaton is white.

That's not the same with South America. In the South there were huge populations of natives (the Maya empire, the Aztech empire etc..) that continued to exist after the colonization of the americas and that today still form the big majority of south american population. In conclusion: your knowledge of history and contemporary economics is rather poor and they way you talk is rather arrogant and racist. Result: you're a jerk.

Oh, and I forgot to say: I've been to london recently and it was fabolous to do shopping with the strong (and ever stronger) euro (the same currency Spain has)... It looks like that your country is becoming the one where tourists go to do shopping. Plus the Brits are on average the most indebted people of western europe. Anyways you say how uneducated they are when you don't put into consideration the enormous population put into places with less space and resources to help support the countries' needs.
