I had no idea that they were out there. I'm from Denmark and I love that we all chip in for everyones education through our taxes. We get paid to go to school! Great! The problem is, that there is a limit to how much money you can make if you have a job along with your studies (which you need in order to maintain a decent living). What's that about!? Let us (the students) contribute to the society that's paying for our education!

it's interesting hearing htis from you...because in my mind, this system is kind of like a socialist political system...but what really is ironic is that many people accuse of China of being a un-democratic communist country when China is a socialist communist country with more capitalistic reality than anywhere else...man, american education sucks..especially at learning about other cultures.

What American education doesn't want people to know is the difference between Commie governments and Welfare States. Most European countries (Spain, Denmark, UK,..) have free healthcare & other benefits, because the gov's main duty is the WELFARE of the ppl. Communism is different, where the main duty is making everyone a clone. So U.S. gov made ppl scared of welfare govs and called them Commies, meanwhile the Europeans are all having a laugh abt how Americans just let their own gov screw them.

I often hear this unjust analogy between socialism and communism. It's almost as if the American mind can only deal with extremes, it's either good or bad, black or white, democratic or republican, liberal or conservative. It's arguable simpler this way, but the real world is somewhat more nuanced. Then again, I don't think many americans can see this, they either have not been outside the US border or have watched too much Fox news.

As far as I know Denmark is also ranked #1 as the country with least corruption in the world. And to all those Americans who thinks that US is the richest country in the world, think again. Countries like Luxemburg and Norway are richer, while all the other Scandinavian countries are just as rich as US.

there's too much competition around the world. why participate them if we can live peacefully, i have this huge ego of winning that makes me a sore loser. but IMO, sore loser got the best chance for climing higher. maybe wont be happier tho :) The Price of Achievment = Reduce in Happiness. Guess

Unbelievable. I tend to inhibit the same "unhappy" look that the Danish show as they're reading a book, walking down the street, or just simply sitting down relaxing. People here in Chicago think I'm always angry and just flat out unapproachable when I'm really just deep in thought. I praise the Danish for being content in their own way. Expect the mediocre and you'll probably receive the best.
