It's well stated in the major news media of the absolute absurdity of allowing Ahmadinejad even on US soil, let alone NYC, which makes most American citizens blood boil.
However, after listening to Columbia President Lee Bolinger's statement, he actually did something very shrewd. In having the Iranian President speak at the University, he got to say directly to his face what US & global leaders all want to say, but figuratively, "go to hell".
