Like "reality" tv, wild life film-stories use old clip to tell stories they witnessed but didnt catch on film. example, theres a scene of this young barely in prime male killing four very young cubs one after the other as they crouch together in a grass that looked freshly mowed like a potting green; so it offered no cover. This was the first ever caught on film recording of what was well known and have been witnessed live many times

It first aired in the mid 80s; since then its been used in every story of lions infanticide or one that mentions lions infanticides. i really became sick of it. in fact, to date, i know of only 5 actually filmed case of actual infanticides. like everything about lions, most of it usually happen at night. some times the actions they film take place behind a thicketh of bush and is not clear or recording fails but they eye-witness it. finish the story, they use old clips of similar acts. The wild life filmers use to be so horrible before the 80s. they will take a baboon, for example, take a leopard, set both free in an open area where the baboon stands no chance and it will usually be a female baboon. They will take their staged films, edit it, mix it with real footage and show a leopard hunt that fit seamlessly into the story.
