I agree that sampling has resurrected alot of classic (and not so classic) tracks, but who is the real beneficiary when the original artist doesn't receive any credit? Props should be given up front so maybe kids will take some initiative to learn more about the original artist. That would be the right way to do it, rather than having to find out "by accident" that the catchy part of their favorite song was actually created by somebody else.

The RIAA works to protect the so-called property of artists but musical quotation is a part of the history of music, classical composers did this long before sampling came along.
