As artists, they should come up with their own unique style. Thats their job. Otherwise your not an artist, or a good one at least.
America is a mix of different cultures. But which American R&B singer copies from a contemporary Japanese R&B singer? or hip hop for that matter. or rock music. Japan copies American pop culture like no other.
And if she wants to work in R&B music...then she should tell her choreographer she doesn't want to perform those moves because its not original.
