The corporations know advertisement always works. You can sell anything sprinkle in a little subtle sex innuendo, some folks partying with some beer, and a fancy car. It's almost always the same commercial different faces, music, and back ground but mostly the same thing. Sex, Drugs, Food, mix em up and you got what we want every time.

"Economists then looked at results of a survey of 800 U.S. schools that administered tests to 346,662 sixth-grade, ninth-grade and 12th-grade students in 1965. Their finding: Adjusting for differences in household income, parents' educational background and other factors, children who lived in cities that gave them more exposure to television in early childhood performed better on the tests than those with less exposure." -Jesse Shapiro

| Part of the abstract; We use heterogeneity in the timing of television's introduction to different local markets to identify the effect of preschool television exposure on standardized test scores during adolescence. Our preferred point estimate indicates that an additional year of preschool television exposure raises average adolescent test scores by about .02 standard deviations. | The study isn't exactly 43 years old; it was done in 2007 at the University of Chicago (which is where the money came from) and was based on standardized test scores done by students at around 1965 from the Coleman Study. They then compared the scores of students in markets with television with the scores of students in markets without television. (in layman's terms at least, the paper goes into more detail about the study) |

Back in the 70's when I was in school studying television production, no I don't work in the field, we referred to the "Alpha Mode" as the 60 cycle buzz. It freezes up the reptilian portion of the brain which functions at roughly the same rate. Back in the 60's tv was referred to as the "Idiot Box", and people watched far less back then. The handwriting was all ready on the wall.

Until recently, I used to luv watching films. Now its entirely different. I watched a movie and all I could see was the iconography. It was EVERYWHERE, even down to the skull n bones on the tails of the planes! (executive decision, Kurt Russell/Halle Berry 1996).The story line was way slanted, but if it wasnt for 911&7/7, it would have been just a mad movie. They opened a can of worms on those two days.
