If you stuck the wheel in the center of a large round piece of styrofoam, you might be able to save time drilling holes. You might be able to push the magnets into the stirophome. Large round Styrofoam can be found at any craft store. Normally used in flower arrangements. Also instead of using one long Calloway V Gate, repeat three smaller ones. After you get it working, surround it with coiled wire to generate a current.

Very Interesting, DustAid. Rather than huge differences in magnet height -- which may lead to other problems...or not -- what are your thoughts on a simple cam on the main power shaft with linkage to a mounted stator magnet so that it automatically raises it at the gate location? Or am i making things unnecessarily complicated.

you guys are not really thinking this is MAKING energy right? The spinning movement is caused by the magnet the guy is holding.. when he moves it far, to make it cross the point, he is giving the wheel the energy to spin.... no miracles guys.. it's just physics... but good work! I guess it's a nice way to transfer energy.

If you looking for magnets check out magnets4less. com and emovendo. net . I am also interested in your design Dust'. Just wondering if you are working on a newer design? History would tell us your not going to make it work but thats no reason not to try.

Can you use some sort of cam to bump the big magnet automatically instead of by hand? Or would that take too much energy out of the system?

Wow that was cool. I noticed that you had to dip and pull away the magnet to keep it going. could you mount that magnet on a lever and instal a ridge on the wheel, so that the magnet automatically is pushed away at the right spot? Well, good luck, keep up the good work

I was wondering, for your first trial, if you did not move the stator does the wheel continiously oscillate between attraction and repultion or does movement eventually stop altogether? Also, excellent video. Thanks for putting it on the web.

im breaking ground with a different kinda magnet motor BTW try making v gates so that theres 2 gates each with the gate at the end of the other v so that it forms a continuos cycle

Hi, I saw tour movie yesterday, and I can say that I flip out, completly.. almost couldnt sleep thinking on this.. it is amazing .. and I coul not stop thinking how to solve the problems youve got.. so I only say this.. try 3 major static magnets arround the weal fixed and equaly distant (as in the corner of a triangle) so that when one is on the gate the other's two are pooling .. try to make the hole system the most equaly wheighted possible for stabilization. It could work...

What if you put the stator magnet on a cam so the dipping would be caused by the rotation? It should go for a very long time, if not forever.

instead of dipping the stator magnet why not use an egg shaped or tear drop shaped turning object instead of a circle, ie the wheel. then you wouldnt have to dip the stator magnet to get it going, and keep it going.

What if you make the "V" wider? By doing this, would it make one full revolution faster? With a little more speed, you might beable to hop the gate?

Your a legend man i thought of something somewhat simler using magnets and also a weight to take advantage of gravity but seeing this has just sent my mind in a different direction keep it up.

just a thought: why don't you use 4 engines like this on a single rod, shifted in angle by 90* each... this way, when one of the wheels passes by the static magnet, there will be 3 other wheels that don't, and this should compensate for that gate... I don't have the means to test this, but the principle is the same as in a 4 cilinder engine: while a piston tends to halt, the other 3 pistons push it further... I'd like you to do this and to post a video if I was right ;)

You should try connecting 2 of them to the sam rod-set the gates on opposite sides-maby the power provided by the second disc could get the first past the 'gate' and vice-versa

Set a mechanism up on the V Gate motor and you can have it run itself. You could very well have a nice table piece if you get it running on its own.

It is going to be very difficult to figure out how to get by the gate. A cam on the wheel with a pull magnet on a track will not work, to much friction. I agree that the wheel might have to have more mass. Maybe momentum will be able to push it through.

I don't understand why you don't put a guide rail system ot a guide-cam on the single actuarial magnet. You know, like the crankshaft of a car enging or the cam rod does for lifting the valves? Wouldn't that work?
