Real Barbecue Chicken BBQ Pit Boys Recipe

Watch one of the BBQ Pit Boys show you how easy it is to barbecue chicken "low and slow", tender and juicy!
Ingredients: 2 5-6lb. Roasting Chickens Olive Oil or Butter Soy Sauce Black Pepper Coat the chickens with equal parts oil/butter, and Soy Sauce. BBQ on your smoker, or with indirect heat on your covered grill at 250f for about 4-5 hours, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches

Great video's, extremely informative! I followed this recipe yesterday using equal parts soy sauce and olive oil. I cooked two birds for about 5 1/2 hours between 200 and 225 degrees. The chicken was fantastic, but the skin was tough as leather. I notice that you cook at a higher temperature of 275 - 300. Does this help make the skin edible or does smoked chicken always produce tough skin? I love the skin and can't stand throwing it away. Thanks for your help!

hey NecoBoyz, "low and slow" bbq smoked chicken done this way is tasty, tender and juicy, but does not give you a crispy skin, one of the trade-offs as you found out. For a crispy skin chicken you need to barbecue at a much higher temp. -350+f for a much shorter time. This is best done using your charcoal grill and not in your smoker, as shown in our BBQ Chicken Split Roasted Style recipe vid here on the Tube. Thanks for stoppin' by! -BBQ Pit Boys

ya makin' us real hungry, NecoBoyz, with that Beef Brisket talk. We plan on doin' one up in the next few weeks, now that the days are longer and the summer heat is crank'n up. The hardest part about Brisket is the trimming (and that ain't hard) and keeping the beer count under control during the 12 hour smoke- ya want to be able to see what you're eatin' when it's done! Looks great! I have to admit I've never used a smoker and have only bbq'd. But- this sure reminds me of a place here called "Caveman Kitchens" and they smoke all their chicken and meats overnight for serving the next day. They've been there for decades and your skin and the way it pulled apart looks exactly like there's. They use alder for their wood. Just amazing the way the smoke flavor permeates the whole bird and leaves a nice pink color. Doomer
