I have to agree. But that's mainly because the commercial wave is so strong it throws back the good music to where it came from ... and that's all a calculated move on the part of higher ups...sad but it's happening all the time. I can't wait till Jojo comes to my area...I'm buying tickets asap!

I think it is sad that you are generalizing using the word American, there are many American musicians who are working hard to push barriers, there is a lot of the same, but that it is like that with most of the word, some musicians come to a point where to turn this into a paying job they have to conform on many levels

There's actually more than you think. Some of today's bands are very, very, good, technically and musically. Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Tool, comes to mind.

well yeah i cant argue with that. those bands are awsome. but they dont get the kind of recognition that they deserve. deathmetal bands and rappers do. so all theese kids liketening to deathmetal and rap are like "hey i can do that" and some record producer that doesent know a dick about music is like "HEY! easy money" so what we have now is a major block in music and that actual artform of it and all we have is a product.
